Cardinalis cardinalis
Primarily red, red beak, black masking around the face for males. Females have the red beak and black at the eyes. Their body is shades of reddish brown w/ wings tipped in more red.
They are widespread in woodland edges, hedges and suburban backyards, etc. in the U.S.
This species was observed from my window coming to the feeder. Most likely taking a break from nest watching in the preservation area behind the residence.
