Bracket Fungus

Ganoderma applanatum

Description:

I found this fungus on a tree in the SAS Rainforest. It was slightly cracked around the edges, and it looked like half an umbrella. It was a light brown, stained green and darker brown in certain areas. It was dry and rough to the touch (I washed my hands after that) and had invisible hairline cracks. It was about the length and width of 1.5-2 hands put together.

Habitat:

This fungus was clinging onto the side of a tree.
