Hummingbird Pollinated Pineapple Sage

Description:

This flower (and loudly calling hummingbirds) were all over the fir forest of the Monarch Sanctuary. The butterflies fluttering and the hummingbird calls were the most noticeable sounds.

Habitat:

Fir Forest of about 10,000 meters, above Angangueo, Michoacan, Mexico.

Hi auntnance, do you think this might be Salvia elegans, the Pineapple Sage, instead of S. gesneriiflora? The latter is supposed to have purplish basal bracts, which this one doesn't have, and the flowers look longer, more like S. elegant.
