Banded Woolly Bear

Pyrrharctia isabella

Description:

Banded woolly bears pupate in the early spring into their second life stage as Isabella Tiger Moths. This one was rushing along my front porch in search of food. It rolled into a ball and played dead when I got near it.

Notes:

I didn't expect to see one of these crawling around in a snowstorm.
