grass mimic grasshopper

Description:

long slim grasshopper,mimicking a dry grass stem, a member of the short-horned grasshopper family, Acrididae. Note one of the individuals photographed had lost a rear limb. These grasshoppers were about 40mm long and wingless. I'm not sure whether if they were a wingless species or immatures

Habitat:

dry grassland in semi arid, sub tropical bushveld by little used cattle pens
