You can see the red 'ear' on the side of the head.....indicative of a red-eared slider.
Sorry I was about 3 feet above him. He as in a deep ditch. I thought painted turtles were colored all over? I was thinking more like a red eared slider.
This could be a Painted Turtle, I but I could be wrong. Do you have a picture of its underside?
