A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Pinus palustris
The bark is thick, reddish-brown, and scaly. The leaves are dark green and needle-like, and occur in bundles of three.
It grows on well-drained, usually sandy soil, often in pure stands. These candles were on trees in a County nature Preserve in the upland area where the soil was sandy, dry, and well drained during wet season.
Candles refer to new growth.
