A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Lampropeltis getula,
About 3' long.
Leaf litter beside wooden boardwalk exit/entrance to parking lot at Washington Ditch in Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge.
Non-venomous. A constrictor. Eats other venomous snakes, turtle eggs, lizards, small mammals. We picked it, learned about it, and returned it to the leaf litter.

Remember, poisonous and venomous are not the same. Poison is administered through touch. Venom is injected.
