Rana clamitans
First Green Frog (male) in the little frog pond this year. Grows to about 4 inches long. Green or Brown. In males, the eardrum is twice the size of the eye.
It lives where ever there is fresh, unpolluted water, springs, creeks, ponds and ditches.
"Doreen, what would need see to tell for sure are the ridges or lack of ridges along the side of the back. So, it could be either based on what is visible in the photo but its face is shaped like an American Bullfrog. Bullfrogs take a couple years to reach full size." second email: Doreen, I can see the ridges in these photos. So, that makes this one a Green Frog. Sorry. Green frogs have a dorsolateral ridge that extends back from the tympanum, and bullfrogs lack that ridge. Your frog doesn't have the ridge, which would make it a bullfrog :)
