Gammarotettix sp.
I saw this critter in hole in the trunk of the apple tree in my backyard. Follow the red arrows to see the critter. Something related to cricket?
This one is tricky! Size reference would help but the pattern somewhat resembles a Aboreal Camel Cricket http://bugguide.net/node/view/153791 Total guess by the way. Don't know that you can get a definitive ID with these pics.
It was dorso ventrelly flattened and that means that earwig is a possibility too. We have a lot of those. who knows. Spooky for sure!
It does look very crickety. I don't have any bug books handy though and the internet is disappointing me.
looked like a critter in the making. too big for a spider. About the size of the camel crickets that i have seen.
Must have been eaten up by the resident Phoebe or Chickadee.
I went back to see if it is still out there. Doesn't seem to be there. It had segments on the thorax. Patterned back and long legs like those of a spider. But the pattern near the mouth looks like that of a cricket. hard to say. Wish I had better pictures though!
What the heck is that??? I think I see a spider exuvia next to you critter though.
