grey, lighter below. spotted back. White ring around the eyes. long tail, moderately bushy, but not as bushy as tree squirrels.

Thanks! They were having baby squirrels, but I didn't see any of them. They were hard to get close enough to take a picture. It took me two days. They were under siege from a pair of hawks nesting in a line of trees near my campsite.
