LivesInADream, shape of the body is one difference. Damselflies are very delicate in body and very slender thin abdomens. Damselflies also hold their wings together when at rest (except for spreadwings but they hold their wings differently than this as well).

Hi LivesInADream, though I don't know what species are in your area, I can tell you that this is certainly a Dragonfly and not a Damselfly. Really pretty shots! Hopefully, someone can help you more with identifying it.
