LivesInADream, shape of the body is one difference. Damselflies are very delicate in body and very slender thin abdomens. Hi LivesInADream, though I don't know what species are in your area, I can tell you that this is certainly a Dragonfly and not a Damselfly. Really pretty shots! Hopefully, someone can help you more with identifying it.
