Monotropa uniflora
Found 5 feet off a trail near Otter Creek Point Estuary Center, Abingdon, MD. This is a plant not a mushroom - it is parasitic, taking nutrients from other plants. It therefore doesn't need to make chlorophyll so it is white instead of green.
Wooded area near Otter Point Creek Estuary Center.
