Lepus americanus
Also called the varying hare, or snowshoe rabbit, this species of hare is found in North America. Its fur is white in the winter and rusty brown in summer.
Younger forest with lots of dense cover.
This hare is well on the way to completing the transition into its brown summer fur. During this transition period when there is still quite a lot of snow in Calgary, they are a little easier to find by photographers and predators alike.

Thanks. Yes, I have a few images from a couple weeks ago when they were still pretty much white. It was nice to catch one in transition.
