Ornate Dabb Lizard

Uromastyx ornata

Description:

This spiny-tailed lizard gave us quite a show! They are usually quite skittish and run to hide the moment they hear you, but this one did not seem to mind us sitting nearby and watching as it went about munching on plants. Very entertaining as it tried to climb on plants that could not hold her weight and she tumbled down. (See video, taken by my husband.)

Habitat:

coastal desert wadi near to an acacia tree

Notes:

Exact location is not pinned as these lizards are, in South Sinai, threatened by collection by pet traders.

Yep, that yellow color of yours was quite impressive! The males of this species are nicely colored, too - more yellow and blue.

Fun to see the little ones in Egypt, they seem much more colorful (well, colors beside yellow) than the ones in Kuwait!

Yes! Unfortunately, I can see why they are collected for the pet trade.
