Southern leopard frog

Description:

Southern leopard frog eggs are laid in a loose mass. They look similar to pickerel frog eggs, but while pickerel frog embryos are brown and white, southern leopard frog embryos are black and white. The first shot shows me holding them outside of the water where you can see the half-black, half-white color of the vitelli (embryos). The second is what they look like under water. The third is a southern leopard frog that I found in the same vernal pool. I saw at least 50 of these guys today!
