A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ursus arctos
Five Grizzly Bear were spotted in the same day within Grand Teton National park. One large male alone right by the Jackson Lake dam and Four others east along the Snake river. The four together were an adult female and three adolescent males one noticeably smaller than the other two.
Riparian and open fields.
The fields where I found the single male were mostly willow. The group of four bears were digging for winter kill in the river ice and along the banks. The female is carrying a beaver that she was able to remove from under the ice. Before she made this wonderful find the bears seemed to be raiding other caches along the river bank. They even pushed out a coyote who had been working for over an hour on digging out one cache, poor fella!
