Cyrtophorus verrucosus
A gorgeous and intricately patterned member of the Cerambycidae family, Cyrtophorus verrucosus is among the first of long-horned beetles to appear in Spring. Its genus and species name translates to "fairly amusing remarks."
Crawling on the flower of a Serviceberry (Amelanchier sp.), near a Maple. Perhaps pollinating?
This is the first time I've seen the black form, and the second time I've seen the species as a whole. The first time I saw it, I saw it on a maple, and I saw the red form. The red/black is on the upper part of the elytra.
