Barred Owl

Strix varia

Description:

We got to see an adult Barred Owl with a long worm or small snake. Then we saw it fly over to a baby! It fed the fledgling. This was the first time we saw a wild baby Barred Owl! There were two babies communicating with each other (we couldn't see the other one) while the explored outside of their nest. :)

Habitat:

Hammock habitat with Oak Trees, Saw Palmetto, Ferns, etc.

Notes:

Picture was taken in Lake Mills Park.

Yeah I'm not sure that was what I was thinking also because of how long it was. Unsure though. It was gobbled up before we could look at it in details. Thanks!

Could the long worm been a small snake? Cool pictures of the youngsters.
