Variegated Squirrel - Ardilla

Description:

It has a highly variable coloration, there are at least 8 different patterns and other intermediates. Fourteen subspecies are known. They feed on fruits, nuts, and seeds of different species of plants. Occasionally some insects as well as one other bird and its eggs. They are diurnal and arboreal habits. It is very territorial, builds a compact nest on the high branch of a tree with leaves. --------------------------------- Presenta una coloración muy variable, existiendo al menos 8 patrones diferentes y otros intermedios. Se conocen catorce subespecies. Se alimentan de frutos, nueces y semillas de diversas especies de plantas. De vez en cuando algunos insectos así como una que otra ave y sus huevos. Son de hábitos diurnos y arborícolas. Es muy territorial, construye con hojas un nido compacto en la rama alta de un árbol.

Habitat:
