Chigger

Trombiculidae

Description:

Also called berry bugs, harvest mites, red bugs, scrub-itch mites and aoutas, in their larval stage, these mites bite their host and cause intense irritation, usually with severe itching and dermatitis. These were all over the handrailing of a bridge, to the detriment of any passerby who was not paying attention. They are very tiny but have a large effect and I dislike them intensely.

Habitat:

Bridge over river

Notes:

I don’t have a macro lens and the photos aren’t great but I wanted to have at least one spotting of these common insects here.
