I bet this is common and lots of people know what it is; but I don't.
Thanks JackGraham, for the ID. It is clearly dogwood as you suggest, but i'm confused by teh wiki description that says it has untoothed leaves, while this one (maybe a cultivar?) has toothed leaves. Thanks again!
