Description:

An unidentified (short-horned) grasshopper, an insect of the suborder Caelifera in the order Orthoptera. This specimen is unhealthy, infested with a possible fungus (white specks) but still alive (moved from vegetation to fence while photographing).

Habitat:

Spotted in a large semi-urban yard & garden situated next to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
