Odocoileus virginianus
The head, neck, back, and sides are reddish brown I summer, and brownish gray in fall, winter, and early spring. The throat, belly, rump, and edging and underside of the tail are white.
In Minnesota white-tails prefer deciduous and mixed wooded uplands in summer and, particularly in the north, coniferous lowlands in winter.
Spotted near the edge of a swampy area along North Cotton Lake Road.
