Spotting

Description:

I have no idea what this is. There were several of these washed ashore on the beach. All different sizes with the largest at 40 cm. Very thin and soft with tiny spikes. Mostly white though some had some reddish coloration. It appeared to be plant based (like seaweed) but not sure.

Habitat:

Spotted along a remote beach in south Puget Sound.
