Description:

A young Northern Red-bellied Cooter found basking on top of floating vegetation on the edge of a pond.

Habitat:

Edge of fresh water pond in aquatic vegetation

Notes:

There is a very high population of Eastern Painted Turtles, Northern Red-bellied Cooters and Musk Turtles among other species that populate this pond - Sometimes they have to climb on top of each other at the basking spots because of over crowding.
