Common Snapping Turtle

Chelydra serpentina

Description:

Very large turtle with brute like and serpent features from the riveted shell down to the tail and the thick scaly skin that the turtle has. This snapping turtle was not full grown yet it. It also had the typical large sharp beak that all snapping turtles have.

Habitat:

Common habitats for these turtles are shallow ponds, shallow streams, lakes and sometimes they may seek homes in estuaries.

Notes:

Saw this turtle crossing the street at like 2:30 am. So we stopped and snapped a few photos of it.
