Leopard Slug

Limax maximus

Description:

This large slug was about 4 to 5 inches long. In the second picture on the right side of the image you can see the pneumostome, which is the opening slugs use to breathe. This airway is only located on the right side of the slug in all species. The Leopard Slug (or Great Grey Slug), which is an introduced species in the United States and other parts of the world, is among the largest land slugs on earth.

Habitat:

Found in riparian zone (forest bordering pond) under a piece of wood.
