Trumpet lichen

Fam. Cladonia

Description:

Lichens, a miniature world in the forest! This is most likely a Cladonia pyxidata, but there are a few different types, quite similar. Cladonia pyxidata is a lichen in the genus Cladonia ("cup lichens"). Like all lichens, it is not one but two organisms, living symbiotically; one fungus and cyanobacteria (bluegreen algae). The latin name comes from the fungus.

Habitat:

Granite Rock and old spruce stump on an island (near the baltic sea, brackish water)

Thanks Mark! I also like the 3rd and 4th pictures, it was an unexpected place for it to grow. But as a miniatyre picture, it is hard to see what it is.
