Common Aerial Yellowjacket

Habitat:

Found feeding on nectar from flowers of an unknown plant. Along the shore of the Colorado River.

Notes:

These wasps were abundant in these flowers, Genus Angelica, along with other wasps and flies.

Hi Tom, just the mention of snow in your comment makes me feel good. It has been more than 20 years since I last experienced a good blizzard. That's one of those things that you never think you'll miss, until you miss it. Then it's too late! You're right when you say that you don't know what you'll be able to take photos of, but just a minute... high altitude, snow...you might get lucky and spot one or two Yeti spp., but that probably wouldn't work, I think the distribution is only in Tibet!

Thanks John. We go to our sons house in Colorado every summer. The last couple and the next number of pics are from a rafting trip on the Colorado River last summer. Then there will be a bunch from his property. We'll be going back at the beginning of November. Everything will be snow covered so I don't know what I'll be able to take pictures of.

Great pictures, Tom, the Yellowjacket and the Plant. Colorado must be beautiful. It was always on my bucket list of places to see, but now that I am too old to travel, I'll happily settle for your pics to give me a little taste of the place.
