Local people told the name is koppalan gottai (fruit). It had a good smell but not edible. It had similiar smell and size as that of Syzygium jambos

Koppalan gotai fruit had similiar smell and size as that of Syzygium jambos.
I could not able to take photo of the leaf or tree as it was in a good height.

You have to visit Kolli hills of eastern ghats near (Salem of Tamil nadu).
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolli_Hill...). This tourist spot is untouched and it has 70 hair pin bends.I started crying within 20 hair pin bends.Its a very steep mountain.

You can find very new species in kolli hills.May be you can set a mission to explore.
