Megaptera novaeangliae
Photo of Fissure interacting with our companion whale watch boat.
Peter I am sad to say it is believed Fissure died. There was a huge red algae bloom in the winter of 1987 and many well know and loved seals died. Fissure wasn't found but he hasn't been seen again.
Fantastic background on this spotting: http://www.flickr.com/groups/humpbackflu...
Was this in 1986? Would be wonderful to update the date when he/she was spotted :)
That was the neat discovery .... each fluke is not only distinct but also very beautiful... like a painting, exactly!
Wow Gale, this looks like a painting!
