Description:

I usually see these large wasps on the ground, hunting for Tarantula. This one was going from flower to flower. This wasp was over one inch long. It is metallic blue with bright, orange wings. The tips of the wings are dark colored which determined the species.

Habitat:

Buckwheat in chaparral
