Goldeneyes

Teloschistes chrysophthalmus

Description:

This golden lichen was accompanying the green foliose Ramalina canariensis (previous spotting). Growing from a pale green base? Related? Possibly a little less prolific.

Habitat:

On Grey mangroves (Avicennia marina) above the high tide mark by about 30mm.

Notes:

An analysis of lichen population across the whole mangrove community in light of prevailing winds and wave patterns would be interesting to determine salt tolerance.
