Mullein

Verbascum thapsus

Description:

A common invasive. A clump of large soft leaves. Sends up a stalk topped by yellow flowers later in the summer. We used to call it "Lamb's Ear", because of the broad soft leaves, but I have no idea if that's a common name.

Habitat:

open field, especially if the area has been disturbed by construction

This is a super medicinal plant! Anti-fungal, antibacterial, a mild pain reliever, great for whooping cough or any respiratory issues! Mullien oil is even a cure for ear infections and skin lesions

Lambs ear is actually a different plant - Stachys byzantina. It's a much smaller plant and has purple flowers.
