Description:

Long stalk (~6 feet long) with purple flowers on top. Flowers had a "hood" type feature on them but not really pea-like

Side canyon of a perennial creek very near a perennial pool

Thanks Tiz! I did some searching and I believe it is Arizona Monkshood (Aconitum infectum Greene).

This looks like som kind of Aconitum! Many of the Aconitum species are very poisonous if you consume the plant in some way. It is a prerennial plant as well.
