Not all lacewings have debris-carrying larvae, but the green lacewing larvae are very interesting when they do. They cover themselves with bits of litter, perhaps to deter predators such as lady beetles. The debris varies, including bits of lichen and vegetation, leaf trichomes (hairs), pappus (fluff) from seeds, bits of insects.
