Geometrid Caterpillar

Description:

this little thing looks exactly like a little stick but is some sort of bug? it was about an inch.5 long. at one end he seems to have a head with 2 little antenna? he seems quite anchored at the base with 4 little legs & appears to have 2 more closer to his head with a long slender stick like body.

Habitat:

this little guy is on a hand rail by steps leading up to a house located in a city.

Notes:

at one point when poked he kinda curled up a bit when poked, and sometimes would bend a bit when prodded at but mainly he stayed rather stick like. i noticed him and then when grocery shopping, when i came back (maybe an hour later?) he had moved a good few inches. i do not think i have ever seen this before?

I believe this is some type of caterpillar. It is an awesome find. It looks quite a bit like the caterpillar on this page http://mainenaturediary.com/page/87 . This is the bugguid page for that spieces and it looks different that the open pictured because they have different colors depending on their enviornment. http://bugguide.net/node/view/778190/bgi...
