Peach Blossoms

Prunus persica

Description:

The purplish red anthers and pink petals (best seen in the first picture) are what I used to make this ID, as the flowers of most Prunus species are somewhat similar in appearance.

Habitat:

The peach, Prunus persica, is a deciduous tree, native to China and South Asia, where it was first cultivated. I believe this particular specimen grew from a discarded peach or nectarine pit.

Notes:

Spotted growing in a ditch along a roadway.
