Undulating Moray/ Puhi laumilo

Gymnothorax undulatus

Description:

Usually a nocturnal eel, I saw this eel in the morning. I am fairly certain of the id regardless of this difference due to the body markings, eye color, depth (10 ft) and seeming aggressive behavior. This species can be found at all depths and is known for its aggressive unpredictable behavior.

Habitat:

Variety of habitats in Hawai‘i, the Indo-Pacific, and Tropical Eastern Pacific.
