That sounds very interesting. I have never been in the states! I am looking forward to take part of what you will see in there! I am visiting some friends in Mozambique, Africa, but in a weeks time I will travel back to Sweden and explore the spring there too! Best of luck :)
Thanks so much Tiz. I will remember that in the future. I love this website! I am currently just outside of Glacier National Park in Montana, hoping for some great springtime nature shots. I will post as much info as I can if I get anything interesting. Where are you right now?
It is not a proper ID :) It is just a common name of the specimen you found. They are very interesting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asilidae, but there are about 7000 species in the world. That is why it is so grat if you have a few photos from different angles, and with those photos add size and other features, as well as the habitat it was found. Then it might be possible for the Noah members to help you narrow it down to one single specimen...
Hello Bonnie. Nice Robber fly you have found there :) Can you estimate the size of it and add it to the notes? I would make the identification much easier. Thank you and welcome to Project Noah!

Thank you so much for the id.
This strange beauty was about an inch and a half long, if memory serves.
