Description:

Males look similar to the other occurring species in Florida, X. virginica. Females on the other hand are all black with a purplish body for this species.

Habitat:

Near the dunes with cacti, thistle, oats, etc.

Notes:

These bees were going crazy over the thistle. Picture was taken in St. Augustine, FL.
