Varied Carpet Beetle

Anthrenus verbasci

Description:

Tiny beetles with a varied brown and tan color pattern. Notice the variation in the beetles in my pictures including one very dark specimen in picture 5 (which may or may not be a different species).

Habitat:

Suburban yard. Feeding on Yarrow.

Notes:

This beetle is known as a household pest as the larvae feed on natural fibers and can damage clothing, carpets, furniture and insect collections. Adults feed on pollen.
