Hi, Elaine. It's an Oak Apple Gall caused by a wasp who laid her egg on a leaf. Sometimes the gall falls out of the tree. They start out green, end up brown with a little hole where the wasp crawled out. I found a link for you that shows one still green, like yours ... http://www.lesjones.com/2005/04/26/oak-a...
