Habitat:

This one is a male, found it in densely vegetated portion of a lake.

A nice fish indeed and yes it was safely released back into the lake. This particular species is endemic to the lower gangetic plains and is also commonly found in ponds and ditches.

Nice ! a handsome little fish. This species is apparently native to the Ganges river system. I hope he got safely back into the lake..
