A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Really hoping someone can help me ID these! Pulled up a bunch of weeds to create a garden bed today and found hundreds of these hidden in the soil. None had ling roots or tops. Smells like onion, although a milder one perhaps. Help?

I FINALLY FINALLY found out what this is, many years later! It's Few-Flowered Leek - and it has continued to take over my entire garden, it is incredibly invasive because it keeps cloning itself. Luckily, it's completely edible, so I am seeing some leek pesto in my future!
Muckpuk - YES! In spring there are many grassy plants with white flowers! They spread like wildfire and come back every year!
Looks like wild garlic to me. Are there any green grassy plants with white flowers around? If it is wild garlic.......DELICIOUS!
They might be wild garlic or onion bulbs. Look at Genus Allium. I have these come up in the yard and garden every year: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/307...
If they get cut rather than pulled, I think they go dormant until the next year.
Hope it helps!
Definitely hard, and definitely not eggs! A plant bulb for sure. Some had small roots, and all have a spot where a top once was!
They look like eggs. Were they squishy or hard?
