I seem to have run into the common confusion between the Fowlers toad or the American toad, (or a hybrid) the picture may make it difficult to tell since I found him shaded by my tomato plants and I chose not to disturb him.

I would say it's a Fowler's. The American doesn't have the profound spots like this one does.
