Rabidosa sp.
Wolf spiders resemble Nursey Spiders (Pisauridae spp.) and Grass spiders (Agelenopsis spp.) in shape, but can be distinguished from them by the difference in eyes; two of the wolf spider's eight eyes are larger, rather than all uniform in size.
Wolf spiders do not spin webs but instead are burrowers who hunt for food.
I was clearing out some wineberry bramble and weeds on the side of the yard and disrupted a lot of critters. This was one of them. It seems one has to flip them over and take a look at their bellies to know for sure what species they are.
