Mayfly Nymph exoskeleton

Baetid

Description:

I found a few of these" exuva?" on a wooden exercise beam in the park. Very tiny. Probably 2mm long and 1/5th of a mm in diameter. Looks like an insect eclosed from here and the exit seems to be on top?

Habitat:

riparian.

From just the subimago exuvia it is near impossible to be sure. it does indicate 3 tails, size and time of years helps. It is either and most likely from Ephemerellidae , or Baetidae. The exuvia of adults if not often reviewed. I am looking closer and I think we can remove Ephemerellidae as the lateral spirical folds do not extend to projections from 4-9, it may actually be Callibaetis based on the projection on 7-8.
