Sawfly

Trichiosoma triangulum

Notes:

I think this is a wasp. It was quite large. Could you help for ID?

Rieko, It doesn't look like there is much doubt about the species, so your addition of the name is fine.

Thank you so much Sckel. It is amazing to see so many (many) different insects in this world.

@Tom15. Thank you so much for your kind help. So, I shall add ID as Trichiosoma triangulum. I am learning a lot since I joined Project Noah :-)

I truly appreciate your help John La Salle. I had no idea what this was and I think I am going the right direction.

Very interesting spotting, comments, info and links. I do not really know this kind of wasp.

That looks like the right call. Bugguide lists 4 species of Trichiosoma, and only one of them is found in NY, T. triangulum. http://bugguide.net/node/view/41490

Hi Rieko. That Trichiosoma picture certainly looks similar - but I really don't know sawflies well enough to say much more than that. Hopefully someone who knows more about them will pitch in.

PS - I added one more picture.

@John La Salle: Thank you so much for your kind help.
Under your information, I checked BugGuide and I think it is called Trichiosoma triangulum. If I am wrong, please correct me. http://onh.eugraph.com/insects/hymenop/s...

I also posted attached below last year. Now, I know that they are associated.

This is a sawfly

If my memory serves me correctly it could be a Cimbicidae because of those lovely clubbed antennae
